As part of the activities of the Cool Contributions fighting Climate Change (C4 II) project in Costa Rica, stakeholder meetings took place between 27th and 31st of March with the public sector, training institutes and the private sector.

As different stakeholders play key roles in the sector, communication between the groups, meeting the people behind the names, and discussing the promotion of Green Cooling is vital for the future development of the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector on the journey towards a sustainable future.
As cooling is responsible for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions, C4 II (opens in a new window) invited different departments of the MINAE to discuss mitigation actions of the RAC sector within Costa Rica’s NDC. Furthermore, training sites were visited to strengthen the cooperation with the training institutes Fundación Samuel, Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) Siquirres and Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA). In 2022, training modules were constructed as part of national and regional trainings for RAC technicians and trainers from Costa Rica and seven other countries of Latin America (for more details, see here (opens in a new window)). The training modules were then provided to different training institutes in Costa Rica and are now successfully used in practical sessions of the RAC technician qualification. Finally, meetings with the private sector took place to strengthen supply chains for Green Cooling technologies.
